6,000 mangrove seedlings have been planted along the Nasese foreshore by 170 RFMF soldiers with the help of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and the Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete in celebration of Infantry Week.

It was also in line with the Ministry of Forestry’s aim to plant 30 million trees within the next 15 years.

The initiative was also to pay tribute to Corporal Sefanaia Sukanaivalu who was killed in action in the Solomon Islands during World War II.

He was awarded the Victoria Cross.

The RFMF soldiers also cleaned up Samabula Senior Citizen's Home and they dropped off gifts at Home of Compassion.
