A six-year-old girl was gang-raped and murdered on Friday, in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, India.
The accused allegedly threw the child from a rooftop after the assault to conceal their identity.
Police say they received information that the girl was found in a critically injured condition.
She was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
The father says his daughter was playing on the rooftop and was later found lying in a field behind the building.
He suspected that the two men had sexually assaulted the child and then killed her.
The police formed three teams to arrest the accused.
Police later received information that the suspects were in an under-construction colony
When the team surrounded the area, the accused allegedly opened fire at the police.
During questioning two men confessed their involvement in the crime.
Investigations continue.
