The $6 million Superyacht Berth Expansion at Port Denarau is set to create more jobs and business opportunities for local communities, which will benefit marine services, hospitality, retail, and other related sectors.
While launching it Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka says that each superyacht that visits brings income and new prospects for Fijians.
The expansion features 7 new berths, including Fiji’s first for vessels up to 115 meters long, a 203-metre extension to the jetty, dredging to allow larger vessels to dock, and a total of 62 berths 27 of them dedicated to superyachts.
The Deputy Prime Minister says this project shows strong investor confidence and positions Fiji as the superyacht hub of the South Pacific.
It is a partnership between the Government, investors, landowners and qoliqoli owners.
Gavoka adds that the new berth is more than just infrastructure, it is a symbol of Fiji’s future in high-value tourism.
