Athletes winning gold in the Paris Olympic Games will be awarded $50,000, while those athletes who settle for silver and bronze will receive $20,000 and $10,000, respectively.

This is after Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka highlighted that a medal incentive had been approved by cabinet for those athletes, coaches and management who win Olympic medals in the Paris Olympic Games next month.

Rabuka reminds the people of the power of sports and the importance of showcasing Fiji's talents on the global stage.

He also expressed gratitude to double Olympic gold medalist Jerry Tuwai and his contributions to Fiji in the 7s game.

Rabuka says sports is a big earner now for countries and encourages the various sporting personnel present to focus on their sports and give their all in their respective games.

Whilst receiving his $33,000 cheque, Tuwai thanked the government for the token of appreciation for his sporting talent.

He reminded the people that impossible is nothing and everything is possible if people have humility and the right guidance.
