FM96 Winners Nishita Chand and Vilimaina Pareti

Vilimaina Pareti says she will be spending the $500 she won in the FM96 Go Beyond Mum with Orchid Competition to buy groceries that would last her family a month as both she and her husband has been laid off due to COVID-19.

The Lautoka resident says her family is now only surviving on her mother’s grog business but that business is also down as many people in her neighbourhood have been laid off.

She adds that this win has come as a blessing for family.

FM 96 listeners were encouraged to send a story of their mothers about what they made to make sure that the family never had to worry about anything.

Pareti had nominated herself for the competition where she wrote about the challenges and the rewards of being a mother of three children.

Other winners, Albert Mainavuka, Nishita Chand and Judie Miller have won an Asaleo Care hamper each.

Meanwhile, Asaleo Care CEO Eldon Eastgate says at a time in Fiji where it can be doom and gloom the competition has put smiles on some mothers’ faces as they are the pillars of the nation.
