There have been five new cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand four of which are from the community and one in managed isolation.

The New Zealand Health Ministry says the four community cases were all linked to the Auckland cluster.

The Ministry also confirmed that a Christchurch person who was under further investigation has now been confirmed as not a case of COVID-19.

The imported case is a man in his 20s who arrived from India on 23 August and who has been staying in an Auckland isolation facility. He is a close contact of an earlier confirmed case and is now in quarantine.

The Ministry said its contact tracing team has identified 3217 close contacts of cases since 11 August, of which 3187 have been contacted and are self-isolating.

New Zealand's total number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus is now 1421.

The Ministry said 7178 tests were processed in New Zealand labs yesterday.
