49 women will now commence a new journey in their lives as they have graduated in different programs from the Makoi Women’s Vocational Training Centre.

The Makoi Women’s Centre continues to empower underprivileged women and young girls through skill-based training so that they become independent.

Of the 49 graduates, 24 have graduated with National Certificate in Aged Care and Community Care (Level 3), 17 in Fashion, Manufacturing and Design (Level 2) and 8 women graduated with Certificates in Cooking and Pastry.

Higher Education Commission CEO, Dr. Rohit Kishore while speaking at the graduation ceremony, emphasized the importance of continuous training to meet the changing needs of human resources.

Kishore says adapting to the fast-changing and dynamic economy and labour market requires a strong focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training in Fiji.

About 1,850 women have graduated from Makoi Vocational.
