48,000 families assisted through the $90 assistance program so far

48,000 families have been assisted with a total payout of $4.3 million through the $90 assistance program so far.

Acting Permanent Secretary for Economy Shiri Gounder says 36,000 families have been assisted in the Nadi and Lautoka containment areas while 12,000 families have been assisted in Lami, Suva, Nasinu and Nausori.

Gounder says they will be disbursing more assistance today and people living in Lami, Suva, Nasinu and Nausori can still apply.

To apply for assistance, people will need to text or call 161.

You will need to give your full name, FNPF number if you are a member, your occupation, number of people in your house and address.

Those who are already receiving the unemployment benefits are not entitled to this payment.

People who are outside of the containment zone but cannot work as per directive from the Health Ministry can also apply.
