$4.5 million allocated in Police budget to purchase bikes and quad bikes

$4.5 million has been allocated in the Police budget to purchase bikes and quad bikes to improve responsiveness to emergencies and enhance safety on Fiji’s roads.

The first phase will see the purchase of 210 patrol bikes.

$298,000 has also been allocated to purchasing specialised policing equipment.

$1.6 million has been allocated to fund police operations during the conduct of the 2018 General Elections operations.

It has been announced that funding will be released depending on the scheduled date for the 2018 General Elections.

$1 million has also been allocated to construct a new Nadi Police Station.

$200,000 has been set aside to set up an automated license plate recognition system and install CCTV cameras in public areas in major urban centers around Fiji.
