$4.3M eco-friendly Suva Crematorium Complex opens in Vatuwaqa

Families in Suva will not have to travel as far as Nausori to cremate their loved ones as the $4.3 million Suva Crematorium Complex and Memorial Gardens has opened in Vatuwaqa today.

While opening the Complex Minister of Land Filimone Vosanarogo says there is a need for such developments in the nation, which sustains innovation, dignity, and sustainability.

Suva Crematorium Complex Managing Director Diven Prasad acknowledged the support of the Ministry of Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and the Ministry of the Land and Minerals Resources for their guidance for the project.

He also acknowledged the Fiji Development Bank for providing finance and FMF CEO and Blue Gas Chairman Sanjay Punja for the technical assistance and support.

The facility includes two eco-friendly cremators with systems that reduce smoke and harmful pollutants.

Families can now have a full funeral service from the Suva Crematorium at a price of $2,795, which includes the morgue, hearse, dressing of the deceased, live streaming and coffin cremation.
