The 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine seized in the Justin Ho and others case has been successfully destroyed at the Dignified Crematorium in Davuilevu.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions says the Fiji Police Force under heavy police and military presence concluded the destruction process this afternoon.

The destruction of methamphetamine started from Monday.

ODPP says this was in accordance with the order issued by the Lautoka High Court in December last year.

The ODPP in consultation with the Commissioner of Police had made an application to the court to destroy the drugs.

ODPP says they had made an application to the court and expressed their opinion that the physical preservation of all the illicit drugs is not necessary for the purpose of court proceedings and that the seized drugs cannot be safely, securely or conveniently stored until the final determination of the case.

Deputy DPP John Rabuku advised the Lautoka High Court this morning of the progress and completion of the drug destruction process.

He has also informed the court that a copy of the video recording and the drug destruction report will be filed in court in due course.

Justin Ho and others case will be called on the 17th of March.
