Ronil Ritesh Sharma, who is charged with two counts of possession of illicit drugs has been given the option by the Suva Magistrates Court to remain silent, call witnesses or give evidence.
Sharma appeared before Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne this morning.
Sharma is alleged to have imported 110 grams of methamphetamine.
Magistrate Somaratne says the facts of the case are that the parcel, which the accused picked up at the DHL office in Raiwaqa, was addressed to Sharma.
He also told Sharma to be in court on the 9th of September to state his position on the matter.
The defence lawyer told fijivillage News that he has advised his client to give his side of the story in court.
