Good news for the people of the North as 40 jobs are expected to be created as Namena Island Resort, located on the southeastern coast of Vanua Levu, will be undergoing redevelopment worth $10 million.

Director Nigel Simpson says this is a great opportunity for the residents and it will also contribute to the growth of the Northern Division.

Simpson says the resort faced immense challenges after Tropical Cyclone Winston, one of the strongest cyclones on record had devastated the island.

In an interview with fijivillage News, the Director says despite the challenges, they have embarked on a journey of restoration and transformation.

He says this is the only resort in Kubulau, Bua and the major challenge they are facing is logistics, as everything is double the cost because of the location.

The Director says as part of the redevelopment, 15 brand-new units are under construction, each designed to offer stunning views, excellent airflow, and enhanced comfort and privacy. VIP helicopter services will be introduced to elevate the guest experience further.

He adds that Namena Island Resort is not only bringing enhanced luxury but also new opportunities for the local community.

They are planning to re-open the resort by the end of next year.
