4 people including a juvenile in custody for theft of motor vehicles and aggravated robberies

4 people including one juvenile are in custody at the Lautoka Police Station for thefts of motor vehicles and aggravated robberies against taxi drivers.

A 23-year-old laborer, a 26-year-old, a 21-year-old and a 17-year-old, all unemployed males of Delaitomuka, Lautoka are expected to face the court for a series of robberies against taxi drivers.

It is alleged that on the 1st of this month, they assaulted a taxi driver at Covuli Street, Lautoka and robbed him including his phone and later drove away in his taxi.

They say the taxi and the phone were recovered later.

Police also say on the 4th of this month, they hired a taxi from Lautoka City to Natabua seaside where they robbed a 40-year-old taxi driver of $500.00 with his phone and drove away in his taxi.

The taxi was later abandoned and his phone was recovered.

On the 7th of this month, they robbed a 31-year-old taxi driver at Naikabula, Lautoka, stole his iPhone and drove away in his taxi which was later abandoned and the phone was recovered.

Police say they are expected to be produced in court today and charges are expected to be laid soon.
