Saneem confirms FijiFirst banner in Labasa office taken down

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem

Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem says they have received four reports of the breach of the campaign and media blackout today.

While speaking during a press conference, Saneem says the first step they have taken is to have it rectified and the banners will need to be removed first.

He says there have been quite a few complaints that have come their way, and where people have not complied, they have told them that they might ask the police to take it down, so people have taken it down.

When questioned by the media about the FijiFirst banner that was allegedly up at 7.15am today at the FijiFirst Office in Labasa, Saneem says they have queried with FijiFirst and they have pictures that said that it has been removed.

In a briefing this afternoon, Saneem says as long as the material is down and complied with in the cases highlighted, they will not proceed further.

He says if people insist that they want to pursue it further, they can go to FICAC.
