Two more women joined the National Fire Authority today as firefighters.
National Fire Authority Board Chairman John O’Connor says the employment of women in the National Fire Authority illustrates the change in mindset within the Authority as women have an important role to play in saving lives and in serving members of the community.
35 new firefighters passed out today and two of them were females.
The two females are 26-year-old Anaseini Sawea and 20-year-old Kelera Voceduadua.
Voceduadua told Fijivillage that work is not about gender, rather it is about who can take up a task which requires completion.
O’Connor reminded the new firefighters to act as proud firefighters ready to serve Fiji putting their lives on the line and sacrificing their own well-being for the safety of others.
The new firefighters will report to their new posting tomorrow.
