32 families of Cogea Village in Bua are now homeless after the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclone Yasa and they are in urgent need of building materials.

This has been confirmed by the Village Headman Atekini Nairibuli who says that only five house are left standing.

Nairibuli says they are now left with the clothes that they were wearing during the cyclone and the left over food from the plantation that was not destroyed but they were happy to see the Prime Minister and officials come with food rations yesterday.

He says they are still in a state of shock.

Nairibuli says they are also in need of clothes.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the food rations that they have given is for the villagers as they clean up the debris.

Bainimarama says he has seen the devastation that TC Yasa has brought to Cogea Village and most of the people have described it as stronger than TC Winston.

He says the villagers are so lucky that no lives were lost.

Bainimarama says members of the RFMF are also out in the Northern Division helping with the cleaning up of debris.
