It was a weekend full of ups and downs in international rugby as coaches try and finalise their squads for the Rugby World Cup with 33 days left.

The Fiji Water Flying Fijians claimed their 6th Punjas Pacific Battle Series title after beating Japan 35-12 over the weekend.

Fiji managed to score 5 tries to Japan's 2 for the win.

The Flying Fijians hopes of moving up to 9th on the world rankings were dashed after Wales thrashed England 20-9.

In the other Pacific Battle series game Samoa beat Tonga 34-9.

Eddie Jones’ Wallabies were pipped in the 79th minute by Richie Mo’unga after he slotted a penalty to give the hosts a 23-20 win.

Ireland defeated Italy 33-17 but it may have come at a cost as coach Andy Farrell took out back-rower Jack Conan before half-time who was later pictured in a protective boot on the bench while full-back Jimmy O’Brien and scrum-half Craig Casey were also withdrawn for treatment ahead of his side’s campaign in France.

Scotland edged France 25-21, USA beat Romania 31-17, Uruguay overcame Namibia 26-18, and South Africa beat Argentina 24-13

The Flying Fijians will take on France next Sunday at 7.05 am in their first of two warm up matches before the RWC.
