3 men who allegedly caused the death of a bus driver likely to be charged with murder

Three men who allegedly assaulted a bus driver at the Nausori Bus Stand have been further remanded in custody by the Suva High Court.

The bus driver, Subhash Nirbhay was allegedly assaulted on the 3rd of this month and he later passed away.

Mikaele Lawani-yale, Josateki Roko-Dakunivosa and Isikeli Lagi-Balavu were initially charged with a count each of act with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm however state lawyer Yogesh Prasad informed the court today that they will be pursuing the charge of murder against them.

He also told the court that the three men will have to apply for bail after which Police will re-arrest them at the court premises.

The case has been adjourned to the 27th of this month.
