27 children were given a new life after life-saving surgeries

27 lifesaving surgeries have been conducted at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Heart Hospital in eight days.

The Director of the Children's Hospital, Doctor Krupali Tappoo says the life-changing surgeries had given hope to the children’s families.

She says the youngest child that was operated on was a 7-week old baby and the eldest is a 13-year-old girl.

Dr Tappoo says a total of 30 surgeries will be done by the team that came from the USA and they are hoping to reach this target as they have one more day in Fiji.

She adds these children will now be able to live a normal life and grow up to reach their full potential.

Dr Tappoo says the 21 member team from the US worked tirelessly throughout the 8 days in trying to give a new life to these children.

The Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Gift of Life celebration was attended by Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete, Permanent Secretary for Health Dr James Fong, members of the diplomatic corp, Sai Prema Foundation administrators and members and family members of the children.
