A 26-year-old man has been charged by Police for the murder of a 24-year-old man from Nabouciwa Village, Nakelo, Tailevu, in October 2022.
Chief of Intelligence, Investigations and Prosecutions Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Sakeo Raikaci says the Divisional Crime Officer Eastern and a team of investigators pursued several leads, which finally led to the arrest of the accused from Koroipita, Naikabula in Lautoka.
A/ACP Raikaci says the victim was found seated on a bench outside a supermarket in Nausori Town on the 20th of October 2022 with visible injuries and was rushed to the Nausori Health Centre.
He says the man was later transferred to the CWM Hospital, where he passed away as a result of the injuries sustained.
A/ACP Raikaci says the investigation team gathered evidence and searched the accused’s home where items were recovered, allegedly linking him to the crime.
Police say the accused has been charged with one count of murder and will be produced in the Nausori Magistrates Court this morning.
