Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau

Zero tolerance for reckless driving is being enforced by the Land Transport Authority which is freezing the client IDs of 238 individuals pending show cause proceedings.

Minister for Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau says blatant disregard for road safety measures, traffic regulations and human life will not be tolerated.

He says the LTA is taking decisive action to ensure road safety and hold drivers accountable for flouting traffic laws.

Tuisawau says careless and reckless driving has contributed to a recent spate of avoidable accidents.

He says the root cause of many road fatalities lies in behavioural-related offenses.

He adds that the individuals are choosing to get behind the wheel while intoxicated and engaging in risky conduct that endangers the lives of others.

Tuisawau says since January, LTA has already canceled 62 driver licenses and suspended an additional 26.
