A 20-year-old man has died following a road accident along Kings Highway in Naviyago, Lautoka on Saturday morning.
The Director Traffic Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana says the man was one of three passengers travelling in a vehicle driven by a 30-year-old man that was involved in the road accident.
SSP Divuana says the driver is alleged to have lost control of his vehicle causing it to crash into the railing of Naviyago Bridge and landed in the river.
Police say the man and another passenger were rushed to Lautoka Aspen Hospital where the 20-year-old from Matanagata in Tavua was pronounced dead on arrival.
They say one of the passengers remains admitted while the remaining occupants were treated and discharged.
The road death toll currently stands at 41 compared to 63 for the same period last year.
