Two out of 54 children from the Holy Trinity School who went for heart screening at the Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital were detected with heart disease earlier this week.

This has been highlighted by the school headteacher Johnson Rura while speaking to fijivillage News who says it is important that we look after our heart from a young age.

Rura says both students will need to go for another checkup immediately and their parents will be informed as well.

The headteacher encourages parents to take their children for heart screening as early detection will lead to a better future for our children.

While celebrating World Heart Day in School, Sai Sanjeevani Children's Heart Hospital Nurse manager Helen Bailey says it is a very important day for the students to be aware of eating healthy food and fruits which can help to keep their health and heart healthy.

She says coming to the school and educating students at a younger age to look after their heart is very important.

Bailey further says this is the first time the hospital has been invited by a school to celebrate and create awareness on heart diseases where they also provided heart screening to students.
