22-year-old Sireli Veikoso and 27-year-old Inise Jessie Vitalina, who are jointly charged with one count of aggravated robbery in relation to the incident on Butt Street, Suva, which was widely circulated on social media, have been remanded in custody.

Veikoso and Vitalina appeared before Suva Magistrate Charles Ratakele this afternoon.

It was heard in court that on June 15th Veikoso and Vitalina stole $50, a phone which they later sold, and withdrew $10 from a stolen BSP card from Surendra Singh Rawat.

The total amount they stole from Rawat is $359.

Vitalina told the court they were intoxicated during the incident, and apologised for their actions.

The Police Prosecution objected to their bail, stating that both committed a serious offence and there was CCTV footage of them committing the crime.

She also told the court that both suspects made full admissions during their caution interview.

Magistrate Ratakele rejected their bail and remanded them for 14 days.

He also told the two when they reappear on the 9th of July, he will remand them again for the High Court to decide on their bail.
