Two men from Qauia in Lami have been charged with the alleged murder of 24 year old Police Constable Peniasi Racagi in Lami.

Police confirm that following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the two accused persons aged 42 and 20 years, have been formally charged with murder.

The two with another individual are alleged to have between the 21st and 22nd of February 2026, aided and abetted to cause injuries to the late Police Constable Racagi, causing his death.

The two are in police custody and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court tomorrow.

No details have been revealed on the third person.

Following the post mortem of Constable Racagi, Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu had confirmed that the findings had established elements of foul play.

Racagi's body was found in the sea near the Lami Oceania Wesley Church on Sunday February 22nd.

fijivillage News has been receiving information that Constable Racagi was allegedly assaulted by these men as he was on foot patrol.

Information had come in that the constable had asked the men to disperse as they were drinking alcohol in a public place on that Saturday night.

Police will not make any further comments.
