Two men have been arrested in relation to the attack on a bus driver in the Makoi area, while a parallel investigation is underway into the driver’s claims of inaction by the Tuirara Community Post.

The alleged incident occurred last Saturday morning.

Police say the two, along with others, had boarded a bus and, when confronted by the driver to pay their fare, they allegedly refused and threatened him to take them to their destination.

Upon reaching their destination, the group allegedly assaulted the driver before fleeing the scene.

Police say the two were arrested by the Nasinu Operations team yesterday and are continuing to be questioned.

They add that as investigations continue, a parallel investigation is also underway into the victim’s claims of inaction after he sought help at the Tuirara Community Post.

Internal Affairs is handling the investigation.
