25-year-old Leone Matai and 42-year-old Semi Tamanivalu

The case of the two men accused of murdering a 29-year-old Caubati man early this month has been transferred to the Suva High Court

42-year-old Semi Tamanivalu and 25-year-old Leone Matai have been charged with one count of murder.

Magistrate Lisiate Fotofili says it is now up to the Suva High Court on whether to grant them bail.

Their case will be called on 24th May.

The victim died in his Caubati home from injuries sustained during an assault in Suva on the 4th of May.

Police say investigators managed to establish that the two accused persons, employed as security personnel of a supermarket in Suva, had allegedly assaulted him on the afternoon of the 4th of May, as they suspected the victim of stealing.

The victim sustained serious injuries, which was confirmed in the post-mortem as the cause of the man' death.
