19 people have been given their new leases for their roadside stalls in Labasa.

Minister for Transport and Tourism Faiyaz Koya and the Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum are touring the Northern Division this week.

Koya says the new stalls are good incentives for most of the vendors as they plant their crops and vegetables and sell them on the roadside.

He says they are also encouraging more people to be part of the small business enterprises as this can help people go through the hardships brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He adds some of these vendors renewed their lease while others were given new leases.

Meanwhile, Ana Waiki of Korosomo Settlement highlighted that they are thankful for the government's assistance in providing them with their new leases for their stalls and now they have a proper shelter to sell their produce.

Waiki says she gets $70 a day from selling her produce and most of the income she receives is used to buy what the family needs.

She says this new lease will enable her to have an income to support her family through the COVID-19 period.
