18 people arrested for unlawful possession of meth and marijuana

18 people were arrested for unlawful possession of methamphetamine and marijuana from Friday till yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations, Livai Driu says people can expect snap checks to be conducted as Operation Yavirau is underway with the intent of disrupting and destabilizing criminal elements and drug related offences.

A 24-year-old man was arrested along Makita Road in Narere after being found in possession with white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

Two men were arrested along Khalsa Road by the Valelevu Traffic Unit after the officers noticed the two acting in a suspicious way, a search conducted in their vehicle where white substance believed to be methamphetamine was found.

Police say with the earlier cases, 6 of the 15 arrests were made in the Eastern Division following the discovery of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

In the Western Division, a manager of a business reported a case after discovering white substances believed to be methamphetamine inside a company truck.

In the Southern Division, arrests were made in the Lami and Raiwaqa areas.
