A 17 year old has allegedly caused the death of two men in their 40's after driving a government vehicle in Nausori.

It is alleged that the suspect took the car keys from his father at 2am yesterday morning while his father was asleep.

The 17 year old boy was driving along Bau Road when the tragic incident occurred.

He hit the two men who were standing by the roadside and then fled the scene.

Police say he later informed his father, who immediately reported the matter to police.

The two men were rushed to the Nausori Health Centre, where medical officials confirmed their death.

Investigations into the incident are underway.

When asked by fijivillage News, Police confirmed that it is a government vehicle but the 17 year old is not the son of a senior Government official as claimed.

Please do not follow the fake news being reported and circulated on social media that the 17 year old is the son of an Assistant Minister.
