16 families who are currently in lockdown at Qauia settlement were assisted with food ration packs by the Christian Mission Fellowship Church in Lami.

The packs includes rice, flour, dhal, cooking oil, tin stuff, and other necessities.

Pastor, Vuli Sigani Turagabeci says they came together as a church and collected anything that could assist those families.

He says these families had been struggling before the lockdown due to unemployment.

Pastor Turagabeci says the Government has delivered food rations to the community and they are thankful that this initiative has been ongoing in other areas that are in lockdown.

He adds they are also thankful for the work carried out by Police, military and health personnel who have been giving their time and effort to look after the welfare of the people of Quaia.

Qauia recorded another 153 new cases of COVID-19 and has been on lockdown from earlier this week.
