15 year old Ebenezar Saukuru of Marist Brothers High School

15 year old Ebenezar Saukuru of Marist Brothers High School has broken the junior boy's javelin record with a throw of 54.59 metres this afternoon and has also claimed his second gold medal in the junior boys long jump.

Saukuru who is the son of former Fiji Volleyball representatives Apenisa and Sainimili Saukuru says he was motivated to break the javelin record this year because he did not do well last year.

He says he threw 54.7 metres during the zone 2 meet this year surpassing the Coca-Cola Games record.

Mahendra Patel of Marist won silver with a throw of 46.56 metres and Nemani Turagavou of Seaqaqa Central took bronze with a throw of 46.30 metres.

Saukuru won his second gold medal in the junior boys' long jump with a jump of 6.10 metres.

Nepote Koroi of Ratu Kadavulevu School got silver with a jump of 5.60 metres, while his teammate Ratu Napolioni Moro took the bronze.

Fesaitu Mario who is currently coaching Saukuru says he is a special kid and he is optimistic that he will be a future decathlete for Fiji given the discipline and skills he has seen in him.
