Police say the post mortem examination of the 15 year old boy who passed away over the weekend has revealed that he died due to having consumed excessive amounts of alcohol and the investigation file will be submitted to the Resident Magistrate for inquest.

An inquest is a judicial inquiry to ascertain the facts relating to an incident.

Police say following the post mortem examination findings, the Divisional Crime Officer South has directed the file be forwarded to the Resident Magistrate for inquest.

Police had earlier said the boy was allegedly drinking alcohol with some people in Laucala Beach on Saturday.

According to Police, the boy is from Wainunu, Bua.

Police say the matter came to light when the security officer at the CWM Hospital noticed a man conveying the boy’s body to the hospital.

They said the man was identified as a taxi driver of Kinoya who told Police that he discovered the boy lying outside a home in Laucala Beach whereby he was vomiting and having breathing difficulties.

Police say the taxi driver rushed the boy to the CWM Hospital.
