13-year-old Josese Murimurivalu of Holy Trinity Anglican School has proven himself on the track by coming first in the Under-13 200 metres final at the Suva Zone 1 Athletics Competition.
Murimurivalu’s team also finished first in the 4x100 metres heats this afternoon.
He says he is now focused on his final event tomorrow which is the 100 metres, where he hopes to finish strong and end the two-day meet on a high note.
Murimurivalu also acknowledged his parents for their endless support and encouragement throughout his preparation for the event, saying their belief in him has been his biggest motivation.
Suva Zone 1 President, Petero Tuisiga says this year there is an increase in the number of students participating in the zone competition, which shows the growing interest and enthusiasm among students to showcase their athletic talents on the track and field.
Tuisiga says that with more schools and athletes joining in, the level of competition has also intensified, promising thrilling performances throughout the event.
He says a total of 13 schools are part of the Suva Zone 1.
The competition will continue tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium.
