A total of 120 teams will participate in the 50th Fiji Bitter Marist 7s in 2026, as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

While speaking during the launch at the Paradise Beverages Limited Headquarters in Walu Bay, Marist Rugby Club President Lawrence Tikaram says the tournament symbolises the rise of grassroots rugby to Olympic success.

Tikaram says the organising committee has confirmed an enhanced tournament format featuring a men’s division with 64 teams, 12 women’s teams, 32 Under-21 teams, and 12 Under-18 teams.

They will also launch the Air Pacific, and Shield of Pacific Island nation teams.

Tikaram says a special legends match will honour players who have shaped the past five decades of rugby.

The club President says a major highlight of next year’s tournament will be the 50th anniversary capping ceremony, where 50 individuals, players, officials, and administrators who were pioneers of rugby, will be honoured for their outstanding contributions since the tournament’s inception in 1977.

Fans will also have the opportunity to engage in an extensive program within the tournament engagement zone, including live giveaways and interactions with legends of the past.

The tournament will be held from the 26th to the 28th of March, 2026.
