Good news for Nasinu Town Council staff as they are getting a 10 percent pay increase for their hard work and to recognise an increase in staff retention.

The Council says employees will receive a 7 percent backdated payment for 2023 and a 10 percent increase for 2024 which will be paid next month.

Chair of Nasinu Town Council, Felix Magnus emphasised the council's commitment to improving employee welfare and boosting morale.

Magnus says they have signed a backdated payment and pay rise.

He says they noticed that the morale of the workers was very low and they decided to start in-house by capacity building and looking after their much-deserving workforce.

The Nasinu Chair further elaborated on the reasons behind the pay increase as workers have worked tirelessly over the years to ensure streets are clean and the community is well-maintained.

Assistant National Secretary of Fiji Trades Union Congress, Attar Singh says this pay increase will help alleviate the the financial burden of workers.

Meanwhile, Acting CEO, Mohammed Imraan says they have approved the increment for all the staff, acknowledging the vital roles they play, especially the depot workers who engage in strenuous activities like garbage collection and drain cleaning.
