1 out of the 5 children below the age of 6 years are suffering from decayed teeth according to this year’s dental statistics.

This has been revealed by the Valelevu Dental Centre during the National Tooth Brushing Day organised by Colgate Palmolive at Rishikul Primary School.

A dental team member says she feels happy to advocate on the importance of brushing teeth.

She says there are a lot of children having decayed teeth and Colgate is promoting awareness so children in school practice brushing everyday in school after lunch.

Minister for Health and Medical Services, Doctor Atonio Lalabalavu says the Ministry is looking forward to take part in more campaigns to promote oral health awareness.

Doctor Lalabalavu made the comments while participating in the celebration at Rishikul Primary School.

Country Manager for Colgate Palmolive, Adrian Romanin says it is great to think about the children of the nation first and foremost to help them understand the importance of oral health.

He says they have distributed 175,877 Colgate kits to most of the schools around the country so children are able to take care of their teeth and brush after lunch everyday.
