Work on preparing a Fiji Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Master Plan has begun, which is a crucial document for establishing relationships with development partners when the Government attends COP meetings.

Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau stated this at the Inception Workshop this morning at the Holiday Inn.

Ro Filipe says it is a base for moving forward and setting short-term and long-term plans, and also ensuring that it is operationalised.

He further says as a Minister, people have complained about them attending international meetings.

The Minister agrees that there will be criticism.

He says he is looking forward to the plan to be realized as they are usually asked how many of them are going to COP and what have they done out of that or even other climate finance meetings.

The Minister says they need to be clear moving forward as a government, otherwise they are just talking in generalities.

Ro Filipe says at times it is hard to move forward without proper scoping, technical details, budget, and timelines in terms of implementation of projects which is why they are thankful to UNICEF, their development partners and all their stakeholders.
