A Suva woman who is looking after 25 dogs is calling for people to love and care for the animals on the streets rather than just their home pets.

The devoted dog lover from Suva wishes to keep herself anonymous due to the safety and fear of getting her pets abused and ill-treated.

She says she has been rescuing street dogs with injuries and those in dire need of help to provide them with shelter, love, food and treatment. She says she stays alone and does everything on her own.

The Suva resident says there have been many challenges in providing food, other essential needs and treatment for these animals however, she never steps back and is always ready to rescue another one in which lies her happiness.

She further says her recent rescue is a homeless mother and her pups whereby the mother was hacked with a knife across her face due to which she lost an eye.

The dog rescuer also says that people normally call themselves a pet lover however, some would not even feed a stray dog outside their gate.

She says we must all work together and look after the animals on the streets as well, as most of the time there are animals left lying and dead near the road and drains after being hit by vehicles.

To provide any assistance for her great work, you can contact her on 8653927.
