A traditional Fijian welcoming ceremony set the tone for Westpac Group’s Chief Executive of Business and Wealth, Paul Fowler, as he made his first official visit to Fiji this week, since taking up the role earlier this year.
Westpac Fiji says the gesture highlighted Fiji’s strong cultural identity and the deep connection the bank maintains with the local community.
During his tour, Westpac Fiji says Fowler will be meeing staff and learn more about Westpac Fiji’s operations, priorities and future growth opportunities.
Fowler says Westpac has been operating in Fiji since 1901, and has remained committed to supporting the country's economic growth.
He adds that the meeting with Westpac Fiji staff had been a highlight of the visit.
Meanwhile, Westpac Fiji Chief Executive, Shane Smith, says the visit was an important chance to showcase the team’s achievements and further strengthen engagement with the wider Westpac Group.
Fowler will round off the trip by attending the annual Westpac Games this weekend — his first experience of the popular staff event that brings together employees from across the country.
