17 rural water projects were completed by the Water Authority of Fiji team in 2018 with a budget of $1.05 million.

This was revealed by WAF Chief Executive Officer Dr Amit Chanan while tabling the WAF Annual Report of 2018/2019 to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources today.

He says there were 65 planned projects which were subsequently completed.

Dr Chanan says they also delivered five minor schemes in the maritime areas, including Kadavu, Moala, Lakeba, and Rotuma, and these schemes are chlorine dosing only.

The CEO adds chlorination assists with killing any harmful microorganisms, and it also helps with the residual protection in the network.

Dr Chanan also highlighted that they are having challenges in terms of catching up with their submission of annual reports because when they started, the only annual report that was submitted was the 2017 report.

He says he is happy to report that they have submitted their reports up to the 2022 financial year and are hoping to catch up by the end of this year.
