Minister for Local Government and Housing, Maciu Nalumisa

The recent increase in tariffs imposed by the United States of America may also impact housing prices in Fiji.

Minister for Local Government and Housing, Maciu Nalumisa says it is something that has to be considered.

He says the Ministry is working closely with the Ministry of Finance to monitor the situation with regard to the increase in tariffs.

Meanwhile, the Ministry is also holding consultations in preparation for the budget for the coming financial year.

The Minister says they will focus on housing agencies and those that need housing assistance in the form of grants and subsidies.

He also says they will be requesting additional funding to address the rising demand for housing in the informal sectors.
