An Independent Foul Play Review Committee was convened to consider a sanction for Fijiana’s Bitila Tawake as a result of a red card issued during the Scotland vs Fiji Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 Pool B match at the Salford Community Stadium on Saturday, 30 August.

The committee chaired by Adam Casselden (Australia), joined by former players John Langford (Australia) and Ofisa Tonu'u (New Zealand), met yesterday to consider the case.

The FPRC reviewed the red card issued for a Law 9.13 offence (dangerous tackle) and proposed a sanction of three matches (reduced to two on successful completion of the Coaching Intervention).

The sanction was not accepted by Tawake and the matter will now be considered by a Disciplinary Committee for a full in-person hearing which will take place in the coming days.

The Fijiana are currently last in Pool B with zero points after also losing earlier to Canada 65-7 in their opening pool match.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana will play Wales at 1.45am Sunday at Sandy Park in their last pool game.

In other games, New Zealand thrashed Japan 62-19 earlier this morning.
