Singapore 7s: Fijiana 7s beat Great Britain 24-10 in first game

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s have started on a high note after defeating Great Britain 24-10 in their first game of the HSBC Singapore 7s this afternoon.

Raijeli Daveua scored a double while Laisani Likuceva and Laisani Moceisawana scored a try each.

Lavena Cavuru received a yellow card in the second half.

Rhona Lloyd scored the only points for Great Britain.

Fiji led 14-5 at half time.

Fiji’s attacks and defence were tested at times, but the girls stood their ground.

Looking at other results in the women’s competition, France thrashed Japan 41-7, South Africa beat the USA 14-0, Ireland edged Canada 5-0, and New Zealand thumped Spain 38-7.

The Fijiana 7s next match will be against Brazil at 9.43 tonight and they will play Australia at 4.50pm tomorrow in their last pool match. The Women’s quarter-finals will start at 8.27pm tomorrow, the semi-finals will begin at 5.02pm Sunday, and the final will be held at 9.41pm Sunday.

The Fiji Men’s 7s team will play the USA at 5.14 this afternoon in their first pool match before facing Great Britain at 10.30 tonight. They will meet Ireland at 5.37pm tomorrow in their final pool match.

The Cup quarter-finals will start at 11 tomorrow night, the semi-finals will start at 5.48pm Sunday and the final will kick off at 10.21pm Sunday.
