Medical Services Pacific says there is an urgent need for accessible, confidential, and compassionate support services for individuals facing unplanned pregnancies, particularly youth.
They say they were saddened by the recent discovery of an abandoned newborn, which highlights the lack of such crucial support.
MSP says they offer free, confidential clinical services, counselling, and legal aid to help young women and men make healthy choices and empower them in handling unplanned pregnancies or other difficult situations.
They say the organisation has a mobile outreach team and is actively working with Fiji National University to ensure counselling services are immediately available to female students residing in hostels and attending as day scholars at the Natabua Campus.
They say their mobile clinics can be booked to visit schools, residences, communities, and groups to provide information and services.
MSP says they stand ready to assist during crisis moments in women’s health care.
The organisation is urging communities to break the silence, refer those who need help, and offer non-judgmental support to one another.
People can call the Child Helpline on 1325 or the MSP hotline on 5640 for information, counselling, advice, or to schedule a clinical visit.
