Today marks a significant milestone for the Mataqali Nayalasa in Naraiyawa Village, Namosi, as they receive their new digger which is part of their efforts to enhance the village’s income-generating activities.

While speaking to fijivillage News, a representative of the mataqali, Ilaisa Nailauota says this is a great achievement for them.

He says acquiring a digger was one of their long-term goals to support the people in farming and other activities.

Nailauota says while traditional farming techniques are commonly used, there are tasks that are challenging without the assistance of machinery and with this digger, their work will become easier.

He also highlighted that the digger represents an additional source of income for the Mataqali Nayalasa.

The 57-year-old says hiring the digger within the mataqali would cost $80 per hour, while the rate for outsiders would be $150 per hour.

Nailauota also highlighted the importance of collaboration and effective communication is the key to make the work easier in any community.
