There was a hype of activities in Lami last night as sounds of cheers engulfed the community in celebration of the historic achievement of the Lami High School U19 rugby team.

The villagers of Lami and members of the community turned up in numbers at the village hall to celebrate with the players.

The Lami High School U19 rugby team created history at the Vodafone Super Deans Competition after edging Queen Victoria School 20-19 in the final.

The team were accorded a traditional welcome at the Lami Village Hall and the community also prepared a spread for the boys to thank them for a job well done.

The School Old Scholar Association from Australia also send over the prizes for the players.

Lami High School has never won any grades at the Deans competition, but this year, the U19 side did the school proud.
