It was a showcase of talent at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka as three teams representing the Kadavu Rugby Union had a pre-season match against their counterparts from Nadroga in the Tauvu Rugby Day that was held at Lawaqa Park.

The event was organized by Kadavu Rugby Union, which recently returned to the FRU Vuvale and is using this event to give their players a taste of top-flight provincial rugby.

Kadavu Rugby Union President and Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Lynda Tabuya, thanked all the supporters and the Nadroga Rugby Union for supporting the first-ever tournament for the 3 teams from Kadavu.

She says it is a very exciting time for Kadavu, and they would like to thank Nadroga for hosting them and for graciously preparing Lawaqa Park for their teams to have their first try at Provincial Rugby.

Tabuya says this is really where the competition is, and she encouraged everyone to come out and support their provincial teams when the competition starts next week.

Kadavu has been camping out of Vunisea for the last month and is using this trip for experience and exposure, and to learn and test their fitness levels against a team that is playing in the Tier 1 competition of provincial rugby.

Nadroga showed their brilliance at times during a tight main match that started at 3pm, showing their tenacity and experience to calm down the new boys from Vunisea, eventually edging the visitors by 4 points at the final whistle.

The competing teams now shift their focus to the Provincial Rugby Competitions, which starts next week.

Looking at the results of the match, Kadavu defeated Nadroga 17-15 in the U20 grade, they also beat Nadroga 36-12 in the women’s grade, but Nadroga edged Kadavu 24-18 in the men’s grade,
