Holi is a festival of diverse colours and it unites people in a joyous celebration of love, friendship and the triumph of good over evil.

This were the words of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Viliame Gavoka as thousands of Hindus are celebrating Holi today.

Gavoka says Holi has become a joyous phenomenon, embraced by people of all backgrounds and beliefs in Fiji with universal values that resonate with humanity at large.

The Minister says it is a festival of unity, where barriers of caste, creed and class are dissolved in a sea of colors and also a time when old grievances are forgiven, and new bonds of friendship are forged.

Permanent Secretary for Education, Selina Kuruleca says tomorrow majority of the streets in Fiji will come alive with laughter and cheerfulness as people drench each other in shades of red, green, yellow, and blue.

Kuruleca says it is a demonstration of joy, where people of all ages participate with childlike excitement and immersing themselves in the sheer delight of the moment.

She says Holi is not just about splashing colors; it is also about spreading love and goodwill.

All Hindu schools are closed today for Holi celebration.
